Big Time in the Big D!

Carson and I headed up to Dallas on Friday after his 2-year appointment.  I was helping host a baby shower on Saturday for my friend Meghan (YAY for Baby Paul coming in October!) and we were all going to the Ranger game on Saturday night.  We were also suppose to see all the grandparents, but long story short, that didn't happen.  Andrew couldn't leave early on Friday and was going to come up on Saturday, but since the "seeing the family" thing wasn't happening any more, I told him not to come.  It's a long drive, plus renting a car (so we weren't driving home separately) and boarding the dogs would also make it expensive, we just decided to try to do all that some other time.

Anyways, Uncle "Dove" (which he did say "Dave" quite a bit too this weekend) and Erin were also there, so Carson was in heaven.  He loves visiting his Gigi & Pops and "Dove" and Erin were just the icing on the cake.  We don't see my family enough, so I'm glad they got a chance to spend some time with them.

Carson cried as we were pulling out and wanted his Daddy.  As soon as I told him we were going to Gigi & Pop's to see the cuckoo clock, he said "Okay" (in his Valley girl voice) and all was good.  He LOVES their real cuckoo clock from Germany and starts dancing when the music plays.

Whataburger stop on the drive up...

Carson decided to blow into the straw in his milk, thus sending milk all over himself from head to toe.  We had to change in the bathroom.  Good times.

Meme & Dede came over for dinner and to hang out with Carson.  They really enjoyed watching him watch the Opening Ceremony of the Olympics... he was fascinated!  I can't believe I didn't take a picture!  He was a sweety to them though!

Didn't take long to get "Dove" in the tent to "play cars"

Loving on Mommy's old Care Bears... he LOVED them!

Highlight of the weekend was his 1st Ranger game/1st baseball game!!

Lots to look at!

Only had to bust out the iPad for a little bit...

He pointed out EVERY airplane he saw... and there were lots since we were close to DFW.  This kid has some serious eagle eyes... I can't believe some of the ones he sees that are SO far away.

He pointed out the "Cow, Moo" on the Chick-fil-a billboard a millions times.

He also loved the "Fireworks, BOOM" after the one homerun!

He was such a trooper and made it all the way to the end!  Well, the Rangers were losing, so we bailed in the 9th, but he was wide awake!

Sunday we had a family lunch and sang Happy Birthday (for the last time) with my parents!

I did not dress my child in Baylor attire, that was my parent's doing.

Yay!  A visit from Greta, Russell, and Miss Lily!

First time for our babies to meet!  Carson got jealous when I was holding Lily... uh oh, hope it's not like this with a #2 some day.

LOVE HER!!!  Always full of sweet smiles!!

It was a great visit, but too short as always!  Not so short that I couldn't work in a much needed haircut!   Yay for chopping off 4" of dead ends!

Oh, and Carson counted 13 stairs... I'd never heard him go above 10, so way to go, buddy!

A Little More Birthday Love...

Even though we'd already celebrated twice, we had to do something on Carson's actual birthday, so made silly faces, sang (again), and had a leftover cupcake.

Happy Birthday, Booger!!!

Karate Kid!

The Saturday night after Carson's party, we had a surprise 50th party for Khaki..... and.....it was a last-minute 80's theme (or at least last minute to our knowledge), so Amanda and I headed to Wally World to see what we could come up with.

Carson was the Karate Kid...

We didn't tell him he was wearing girl shorts from WalMart.

Mommy bought a white (very gangster looking) bandana and added the star on the front with a Sharpie.

The "belt" was actually black with white polka dot grosgrain ribbon because they were out of solid black, so I Sharpied out the dots on the part that hung down.  Gotta love Sharpies!

Wish you could see Wanda's hair better... she was rocking a HIGH 1/2 up, 1/2 down do...

It was pretty sad that everything Amanda and I found to wear was currently available at WalMart....

And then there was Julia...love it.  Khaki was definitely surprised!

We found a Goonies Forever shirt for Andrew which Carson liked because it had a skull & crossbones on it (i.e. a pirate).  I didn't have a picture of myself on my camera, but if I find one, I'll definitely add it.  Fun times!
