The weekend before last, we took an impromptu mini-vacay up to Toledo Bend Lake. We drove up on a Wednesday night and left Sunday morning. We hadn't done anything with just the three of us in quite a while and certainly don't have any time on the calendar to do anything major before Little Miss arrives.
We stayed at a new place this time, Fin & Feather Resort, and it certainly was a step up from the place we have traditionally stayed at. It had a great pool, playground, and plenty of covered boat docks for perch fishing. The bass fishing report was not looking too great, so thankfully Andrew wasn't too disappointed when the real fishing was sub par. We swam a LOT and fished down at the boat docks for perch. We also just vegged out on the couch and hung out on the back patio. There were lots of naps too! :-)
Checking out the place...
Fishing with Daddy
Got one!
Narrating the whole thing, I'm sure....
Learning to pee off the boat... one of life's necessary skills (for men).
Good one, Andrew!
My little cutie letting me take lots of pics in manual mode with the awesome natural light!
Those beautiful blues just sparkle!
Worms!
What little boy doesn't like worms?!?
We caught tons of TEENY perch!
Got a good one!
Looks like a fisherman...
Walking out behind the cabin with Papi (he joined us after the first couple nights)... Carson LOVES his Papi!
About 2 seconds later, he (Carson) pooped his pants.... he apparently drank WAY too much pool water because he was a rock star at pooping in the potty while we were there. Pretty much every day morning and afternoon... whoop!!!
Who knew cleaning out ashes could be so fun?!?
Our little helper!
They could have done this ALL day! (So much for following the 'dogs must be on a leash at all times' rule.... being cooped up in a little cabin with those two nut jobs just about drove me crazy! All I heard the whole time were toe nails tapping on the wood floor as they paced. We HAD to let them run for a while for my sanity's sake.)
The kid loves his trains...
And crashing them!
More fishing...
All the fishing pictures are a little misleading... he was WAY more interested in looking at the boats in the slips or playing with worms or doing anything we told him not to do.
More worms...
Playground fun...
3 Generations!
How most of our pictures went down...
Yeah, totally wasn't planning on taking a family picture... no make-up, gigantic t-shirt, and nasty hair. Oh well! :-)
Had to have smores on National Smores Day!
Like I said, lots of naps and laying around in addition to the outside fun.
The bed in our cabin appeared to be a Full or if it was a Queen, seemed tiny because there was only about 8" from the side of the bed to the wall (it was a long & skinny room), so after one night of the three of us cramming in there, Andrew got booted to one of the couches. What does that mean???... I got all the snuggles to myself!!!
Carson loves "Calico Bear" (what he's named my old pink Care Bear). He pretends it's his baby sister and loves to sing to her. So sweet!
Matching shirts for the kiddos!
It was a great (and much needed) long weekend. Carson cried on the way home and said he wanted to go back to Toledo Bend Lake. Don't worry kid, I'm sure you'll be back soon! Daddy (and Mommy too) love it up there! Some day we would LOVE to have a little camp or trailer. It's so close to home! Anyone want to buy us one???
