Camping with Gigi, Pops, Uncle Dave, & Erin

I use the term "camping" loosely.  I know my dad really wanted to go "real" camping, but with 7 of us, it still being pretty warm, and an unexpected MAJOR thunderstorm, we kind of cheated and stayed in a cabin.

Anyways, Carson still had a BLAST (minus when he fell of the bed in the middle of the night despite having a rail up... he fell of the end of the bed even though we had a chair there).

We met up at Crockett Family Resort on Houston County Lake because it's almost exactly half way between Dallas and Nederland, and not too much farther for David & Erin coming from Austin.  Andrew brought the boat and attempted to fish, but it was VERY slow.

Note to anyone going there and getting there at night... MAKE SURE you have printed out a map of the campsite because it is dark, you can't see the signs once you get inside, and there is virtually NO cell reception to be able to look anything up on your phone.  We found that ou the hard way.  :-)

"Camping"  (Hey, we, I mean Andrew (because I fell asleep) had to be able to watch the Ags BTHO Louisiana Tech... barely... until 1 AM)

Carson thought this was a mouse...

We had a tent, just not for sleeping in..

Even though Carson probably would have...

Playing cars was what it was really for...

We tried some fishing with worms...

I did catch a 2 lb bass on Carson's Mickey Mouse pole.  Andrew saw it by the bulkhead, so I tossed in my line.  That stupid fish attacked the bobber and then noticed the worm.  I caught it.  Site fishing is always pretty cool.  I also caught a monster perch, but for some reason, the fish just weren't biting.  We only caught a few.  It's rare to struggle catching perch with worms on a dock.  Oh well.  We tried.  Andrew, David, and my dad caught a few bass out on the boat, but that was it.  Slow, slow, slow...

We ate some excellent fried fish and shrimp (cooked graciously in the rain by Andrew and my dad).

We swang... A LOT.

Dad napped comfortably...

We ran around...

We thought about going swimming, but some other kids said it was pretty chilly.  No thanks.

We found big sticks...

And attempted posing for pictures...

Tired boy and his "big buck."

We had a great weekend!

Dad - I promise we will go "real" camping with you soon!

The Farm = Carson's Favorite Place in the World

Carson LOVES, and I mean LOVES, going to "Wannie's Farm" (as he calls it).

He LOVES running up and down the dirt road from the gate to the house (~1/4 mile).  He easily does it 3-4 times while we are there.

The cows go night night in the barn...

Running fast!

He LOVES to point out ALL the cow poop.

Love this one!

Still running!

Short break to play in the big birdcage Wanda picked up for someone out at Warrington.  He LOVED this thing and cried when Papi loaded it up in the truck to go home.

This kid LOVES cows (except at night).

Pre-football game running...

This is tiring...

My sweet boy!

Time for another walk/cow poop-pointing out trip... it was chilly!!

More poop.

Love this smile!

Watch out!  Don't step in it {again}!

More poop.  He's obsessed.

POOP!

Love this one too! (Too bad the Rangers lost.)

Little man and a big stick.

Of course...

It was a pretty relaxing weekend.  The weather was GLORIOUS!!!  Wanda, Jamie, and I headed out to Warrington/Round Top for an afternoon of shopping before the football game.  I behaved myself and left without spending much at all.  Jamie scored big and got several nursery items checked off her list including a super-cute turquoise dresser!

The Ags beat Ole' Miss... barely.  It was ugly, but I'll certainly take the "W."  It was nice to actually be on the winning side of a close game for once.  We had all pretty much given up home and then here comes Johnny Football with a nice little pass to Ryan Swope... then the defense closed the deal.  It was pretty much AWESOME!

Carson went to sleep easily in the bottom bunk (until he fell out in the middle of the night... whoops).  It was cold and he was a great snuggler after that.  The next night I put something up so he couldn't fall out and sleeping just wasn't happening.  He was WIRED.  We thought he was OUT, but as soon as we crawled in bed, we heard "Hi Mommy."  Yeah, he slept with us again, but he slept good and late enough.  One morning it was until 8ish, the other, not so much.

We ate good... that's a given.  Nothing beats fried fish or anything off the smoker!

I'm already ready to go back!!!  I love the farm in the fall!

Gigi & Nina Come to Town!

The weekend we went to the Children's Museum was the weekend that my grandmother (Nina) and my mom came to visit.  My mom was having major Carson withdrawls, so she pretty much just said, "When can we come down."  Nina hadn't seen Carson in a LONG time because it just didn't work out to get together the last few trips I'd made to Dallas, so she was happy to join too.

We had a couple little things planned for the weekend, but nothing major.  We all just stayed in Baytown at Wanda & Dan's.

We just hung out Friday night and then had the Children's Museum and little Keith's 1st birthday party on Saturday.  I took some cute pictures at the party, but they were on my mom's camera... Mom - can you send me those pics?   :-)  I'll post when I get them!  Carson got frustrated with Nina because he wanted to "fing high (swing high)" on the big porch swing.  It's obviously not meant for that.  He told her to get off.  Ha!  Punk.

Somehow, I let Wanda convince me to help her dig in the garage and get out and clean ALL (and I mean ALL) of Andrew & Amanda's old Fisher Price toys.  She seriously had EVERY piece to all these things.  She told me a long time ago she had them, that she was crazy-obsessed with keeping up with the pieces.  I believed her then, but I REALLY believed her now.  She had TONS of the pre-Little People stuff.  Maybe it was called that back then, I'm not sure.  Carson was in heaven.  I'd say he was a little overwhelmed.... in a good way.

I totally remember having the house and barn.  I think we might have had the parking garage too.

Carson wanted Nina to play too...

She got stuck with all the dinosaurs...

She bought him "bones"... PJs for Halloween.

It was a fun weekend of just enjoying each other's company!  Wish y'all lived closer!  xoxo

Random Carsonisms

Carson just flat out makes us laugh.  His little voice and choice of words are so funny and sweet sometimes.  Of course, you have to hear it in person, but a few of his sayings or comments lately include:

"That's beautiful."  - Out of nowhere he said this about one of our potted flowers on the back porch.  I've heard him say things are pretty, but beautiful was a new one.

"That's fun." or "This fun." - He just tells himself when he's having a good time.

He just narrates the whole walk to school in the morning.  The birds, I mean doves (he's specific).  The motorcycles.  The flags.  The trees.  The cats.  The pumpkins on people's porches.  The clouds.  The bicyles at the elementary school.  You name it.  He's talking the whole way.

He LOVES the ice cream man.  We've only bought twice, but he knows the sound from a mile away.  We ate dinner outside last night and he started crying because he wanted to "see ice cweam mam."

He's obsessed with me picking up "doggy poop" in the back yard.  He walks all over the yard looking for it and will find the tiniest pieces and tell me "more doggy poop, Mommy.  That's yucky,  or "That's gross."  He will NOT let me not pick some up.  He always finds one more piece after I've put up the pooper scooper.

He has a strangely good memory.  Everytime we talk about the ice cream man, he recalls that "mommy ate bunny rabbit candies."  Yes, he didn't want the Bugs Bunny ice cream thingy he picked out, so I ate it.  He also remembers that "g-ma took bus. Carson hit mommy."  Yes, my mom bought him a little school bus at the museum, but as we were leaving the store, he hit me (he was REALLY tired).  So, G-Ma (as he was randomly calling her that weekend, instead of Gigi) took it away from him, and boy, he hasn't forgotten.

A helicopter flew over our house last night and Andrew told him how cool it was.  So, of course, that's what Carson kept repeating.  "That cool."

I got him one of those Hot Wheels racetracks that goes on the wall and he LOVES it.  He keeps trying to put his Cars cars on it, but "they too big, Mommy."  He'll go through all of his cars and tell me which ones are too big.  For example, "the bus too big, Mommy."

I guess I always say "that's right" when I ask him what something is, so now when he starts talking about something, he automatically adds "that's right" on the end.

At school they say a little prayer before meals and snacks and we let Carson lead the prayers before we eat at home.  It's so sweet to hear him sing, "A, B, C, D, E, F, G, thank you, God for feeding me."

I know there's more, but those are some quick ones off the top of my head.
