If it's not obvious enough, we LOVE, LOVE, LOVE our two sweet pups. It's impossible to imagine life without them. I don't hardly remember what it was like before we had them (everyone says kids are the same way). I still think Lucy was "sent" to us. For some reason, every stray dog in the neighborhood ends up at our house... we had two on Memorial Day. One ended up being our neighbor's, but she still spent the whole afternoon in our backyard, eating our food, and playing with our pups. The other we tried to ignore because he wasn't as sweet. A couple days ago, another little pup wandered up to our gate. We must have a sign that says "All Dogs Welcome Here... These People are Suckers!" To all the strays out there... For the record, we are NOT keeping anymore. We have our hands full.

Anyways, we had some fun in the backyard last night with our babies, so I wanted to share a few pics.
Shooter LOVES for you to hold the Flippity Flopper (i.e. Frisbee) up high so he can jump up and try to get it. He does the same thing with a water bottle on a tree limb. He really has some UPS!!!

Hopefully our sweet pups will continue to be sweet after little Tater comes. Labs are supposed to be great with kiddos. I'm not worried at all about Shooter, but Lucy is not always nice around new dogs. She's very defensive because of her "street hooker" days. She always wants to be the dominant one in the situation. She's always nice to new people though, so hopefully she'll know the difference. We've done some reading about how to introduce the dogs to a baby, but if anyone has any personal experience/advice, bring it on. Honestly, I'm more worried about our highly spoiled dogs having separation anxiety because they won't get the same amount of attention they do now. Better start "ignoring" them now!

ReplyDeleteone suggestion we were given is to bathe in the soap/bodywash you plan to use on the baby so that the dogs are accustomed to the smell. don't know how effective it really is, but i suppose it couldn't hurt. :-)
Our girl adjusted just fine and she is right up there in the "most spoiled dog in the world" category! She has become a bit of a daddy's girl because she knows mommy has to feed her brother and things like that. It is really fun now because they are really getting to the point of being interested in each other. She amazes me in that she knows the difference between her toys and his and will generally leave his alone. The other thing that has been good for me is that I am at home with Aggie (just the two of us) during the day while working, so she still gets to have her mama time!
