Chocolate Cake!!!

I figured we needed to have a trial run before the real birthday party to determine which kind of cake to get. Apparently, chocolate is just FINE!!!

Why? Wednesday

I've always had tons of random questions...good thing my dad always could have an answer for all of them. These days, either my dad or Dan (Andrew's dad), pretty much can answer any question I have. Andrew always thinks I'm crazy when I ask most of them, especially when we're fishing. I think that drives him nuts when I start asking my crazy questions when we're supposed to be relaxing, so I keep a lot to myself. :-)

Anyways, so I thought my blog would be a fantastic place to consolidate the random questions that pop in my head during the week. So...here's the inaugural "Why? Wednesday" post!

1. Why do babies get to bathe more than moms do?
2. How do bugs get into light fixtures?
3. Why are evening showers more refreshing than morning ones?
4. Who first looked at a crawfish (or lots of food for that matter) and thought it would be good to eat?
5. How did people get by without toilet paper, especially good toilet paper?
6. Why do all my flowers die, but weeds grow like crazy? How are they that different?
7. Do Junebugs have a calendar or something, why are they only here in June, give or take a month? Where do they go the rest of the year?
8. How is one of the foods that's been on the earth (i.e. rice) so long so impossible to cook??? If it's not Boil-in-a-Bag, FORGET IT!

I'd love to know if you've ever asked yourself any of these questions and would love to hear some of your random questions/thoughts!

Who's With Me???

Okay, any of you sewers, or wanna-be sewers (that's me) want to tackle a summer sewing challenge???


I bought what is supposed to be a super easy (we'll see about that!) pattern for a jon jon and have yet to open it and start.


(Is it just me, or do that kid's feet look huge!?!)

I know not everyone has a boy, so if you want to find a simple dress pattern to follow, that works too! I don't wish Carson was a girl, but it seems that making little dresses would be SO much easier. Since we do have a new little girl in the family, maybe I can attempt some for her in the future. :-)

Anyone up for the challenge? OR, have a sewing challenge of your own I can get in on? I'm having the urge to dust off the Singer again, it's been a few months!

BUSTED!!!

Carson's lip, that is...AGAIN.

This time a book under his knee caused him to slip. Last time his knees were just moving faster than his arms. Both times there was blood. Poor baby!!! I promise we watch our child, you just can't prevent this kind of stuff. This one wasn't on my watch though. This happened yesterday afternoon while I was working.

I've tried to get a picture, but this kid does NOT like you messing with his mouth; however, he does like me to brush his teeth. Go figure. I guess it feels good on his gums.

Ooohhh... this sounds like what I need!

So my love of [highly] amateur photography is not a secret. I know just about nothing from the technical side, but I just LOVE to take pictures. Just for grins, I right clicked on my "Carson" folder in My Pictures, which pretty much covers our life since he was born. Can you guess how many pictures were in there???

6,660!!!!!!!!!!!

In less than a year, I've taken over 6,600 pictures. Ridic.

I've been trying to experiment outside of the Auto or No Flash mode and have some success, but I truthfully have no clue what I'm doing. I keep checking the local colleges to see when they will have their next digital photography continuing education class, but it sounds like I may learn WAY more from these fabulous mommy photographers at Clickin' Moms!

Winnie Trade Days

Cousin Jamie FINALLY decided to start selling some of her beautiful jewelry and handmade home decor. She rented a space out at Winnie Trade Days, and from what I gathered, had a pretty successful first weekend. It was hot as heck, but there was still a good crowd out there. Since Winnie is only about 30 minutes away, we decided to drive out for a couple hours and hang out.

Cousin Jeremy is SO fun... he let's me play with lighters!
