Make Ya Smile Monday - Cold!

It's finally COLD! I just hope it stays that way for a while!

Carson got this ADORABLE hat at his birthday from my friend Holly. Another one of our friends from high school, Lisa, started Night Owl Yarn Designs and makes the cutest knits. That link goes to her Etsy store and this one goes to her Facebook page. We've been {trying} to take Carson's picture with a sock monkey weekly (before he was 1) and now monthly, so I think that's where Holly got the idea to have Lisa make him a sock monkey hat. Whatever the reason, it is SO cute!

I'm a little behind on my posting... more to come later on Thanksgiving and my birthday.

Happy Monday!

Flashback!

Our sweet boy {with a DOUBLE ear infection AND a yeast infection (thanks to lovely weekend of diarrhea)} is SIXTEEN months old today!!! I'll make a separate post about what's going on with our 16-month old, but here is a FLASHBACK to this day one year ago...

Trying to sit up

Make Ya Smile Monday - Curls

I am in LOVE with Carson's CURLS!!!!

Definitely a Reality...

A couple weeks ago I had a post called "The Quest for the 8-Minute Mile". Now, when I wrote this, it was BEFORE I had attempted to run AT ALL in a REALLY LONG TIME. I followed up with a post called "That Wasn't Too Bad" which was the "AFTER" post. I had gone out and actually run a mile without stopping. It took me 9:15 because I REALLY paced myself. I ran a mile on several more occasion right around the same time 9:00 to 9:15.

On all of those occasions, I didn't look at my watch until I was DONE. Mostly because I just wanted to finish the mile without stopping and not be concerned about how long it too. WELL, one day I looked down at the clock when I was on what I would consider the last stretch and it was around 7:45... I was like WOW, so I picked up the pace and finished in 8:35. The next time, I looked down and realized I could probably make it in under 8:30. I did... 8:25.

SO.... my point is that I really think an 8-minute mile is TOTALLY a reality for me. I've already shaved 50 seconds off from when I started, so what's another 25 seconds. When I looked down at that watch and know I am close, I can definitely push myself on that final stretch. I was always competitive growing up, especially with myself. If I can keep setting little goals for myself and reaching them, I will be much more motivated to keep running. I think that's the main reason I like running more than regular working out. You CAN set goals for yourself. How do you really set goals with a workout DVD?

By NO means do I think I can keep an 8-minute, or even 9-mine pace for longer distances, at least not for a long time. I think I'm going to stick with the 1-mile distance for a little while longer, and then go for two. Like I said, little goals...

Plum Tuckered Out...

I think I figured it out...

Carson isn't teething (well, he is, but that isn't the problem), he's not just going through some grump spell...he's TIRED. It seems like every day when we pick Carson up and bring him home from school, he goes through this EXTREMELY grumpy spell. He's super grumpy right when he gets home, then is happy again if he gets to go outside, then is a total grump during dinner and throws fits. He hasn't really been eating dinner very well the last week or so. So, we stop in the middle and say forget it. Then, he gets this CRAZY second wind and is happy as can be. Then, he switches back to his grumpy self. Bath time is usually pretty quick because he's not having it. It's like we can't get to the book-reading/prayers/songs part of the night fast enough. He's been in bed right around 7 without a peep the last couple weeks and sleeping until 7 am. I can't believe how EARLY he's happily going to bed. He WANTS to go to bed. For a while, he was sleeping 2 full hours at school, but his reports the last couple of weeks have been 1.5 hours at best. So, maybe the canine teething is throwing him off. Who knows?

Anyone else's kiddos come home just FLAT WORN OUT???
