School Update - Week 1

We made it through Week 1 at the new school!

Thank goodness, the hitting has subsided. The day after the bad report, he hit just a little. The last two days they said he didn't hit. YAY!

He has started crying when I drop him off though. This is exactly what happened when he started at his new school. He didn't cry the first two days, then cried for about 2 weeks until he really started to feel comfortable. So, I'm expecting the crying to continue this week, then hopefully, he'll be okay after that. He cried just a little this morning, so that's a good start.

The afternoon girls did say that when he's outside, he often doesn't want to play with the other kids. He likes to just explore by himself. This didn't really surprise me for two reasons. One, most kids his age don't really play WITH each other, only ALONG SIDE each other. (My mom, the former teacher, reminded me of this.) Secondly, he's very independent and enjoys independent play here too. He likes to explore and check out how everything works. The days I've picked him up when they were outside, sometimes he's off playing by himself, and other times he was up on the very top of the jungle gym. So, definitely no concern here.

It's been fun to see some of the things he's been learning. He LOVES to dance. He loves singing little kid songs and doing the motions (i.e. Itsy Bitsy Spider). He puts his hands together when we pray. They line up before every snack and at lunch and put their hands together and pray "God is great, God is good..." So sweet!

I'm looking forward to Week 2 and seeing how this goes! Update to come next week!
