I'm not posting on Wednesday, no biggie!!
I preface the next two statements with the fact that I work from home and the only time I get "dressed up" each week is for church, so "caring" about the following things is a little hard to do. Plus, around here church isn't a fashion show. I'm almost always in a dress because I want to be, but plenty are 'come as you are.'
This one is really hard to admit as a girl, but I could care less about shoes. Sure, I think they are fun, but I would never say I was "obsessed", nor would I ever spend an insane amount of money on a pair. If I worked in a dressy office, I'd MAYBE splurge on a staple pair of pumps or something, but that's it. Give me my Reef flip-flops, cowboy boots, or my couple pairs of go-to "nice" sandals from Target.... that's all I really need. I appreciate fun shoes and find myself going "oohh" when they point some out on Fashion Police, but let's face it... I'm cheap.
The same pretty much goes for fashion/accessories... mostly because I don't have the gift of putting it all together. I fall in love with outfits on Pinterest, but know I'll never take the time to actually try to achieve any of them. So...if anyone wants to be my personal stylist and help me out, I'd certainly welcome the help. :-) I do appreciate fashion and love to watch Project Runway and Fashion Police, but just don't have that gift.
Even if I know some leftovers are over a week old, I still just leave them in there until I decide it's time to REALLY go through the fridge. We really need a system for left overs... we play way too much "When did we eat this??"
I was devastated (okay, that's probably a serious exaggeration) by the whole "Randy Travis arrested naked & drunk" thing. I LOVE Randy Travis's music and have begged Andrew to go with me the last two times he played fairly near us. Didn't happen and doesn't look like it will again for a while....did he go off the deep end or something? He never struck me as the "trouble-making" type.
I use WAY too many quotes, exclamation points, and "all caps" when blogging or Facebooking!!! :-)
I totally gave Carson some Benadryl before bedtime the first time (and pretty much every day since) in his "big boy" bed. He does have allergies, so I don't feel that bad.
I am horrible about mailing cards/gifts on time. I always have them at the house and ready to go and then it slips past me. So, I apologize to everyone who gets their birthday cards late.
I don't know if Carson fell out or got out, but he wasn't in his bed one night... it was quiet in there, so I knew he probably was just sleeping on the floor. Didn't bother me, but Daddy made me go put him back in. I'm cool with the pallet thing, so I put one of his nap mats on the ground right next to his bed so that if he does it again, he can just sleep there. Having a kid that will sleep on a pallet will sure make traveling easier.
I have never not paid a credit card bill in full or missed any big payments, but my mess-of-a-desk has caused me to overlook a couple small bills... CRAP. I need a better system.
I still haven't deposited Carson's birthday money checks (almost a month later)... I'm sorry, Nina, Nana, and Meme & Dede!
I am one of those who always gives in to the "impulse buys" at the grocery store/Target... Sour Patch Kids or York Peppermint Patty... yes, please!

Big Boy Bed Transition - Update #1
After much debate, or really because of laziness/money, I decided just to put the toddler rail on Carson's bed versus converting to a full or buying a twin. Here's why:
1. The conversion kit to a full wasn't available in the color I needed (currently out of stock).
2. The more I thought about it, I didn't really want a full bed in his room just because it would take up too much space. The way the room is configured, he'd hardly have any play area with a bigger bed.
3. I was set on getting a twin (and we still will here pretty soon), but the more I started looking, the more expensive it became. At first I was just thinking about a decent wooden bed, then I remembered we had to get a mattress set, then I realized we'd need new bedding, and then the safety rail. Plus, I didn't really think it was fair to us that our kiddo would practically get a whole new room and ours still looks like crap without ANY real furniture... just kidding. That really wasn't a reason, but I did find it funny that I was more than happy to spend the money on Carson, but have yet to spend any money on furniture for our room. Anyways, I digress... Turns out there is a Jenny Lind bed at the farm that is no longer being used. We got the okay from the other aunts to take it. I'm ridiculously sentimental, so I LOVE that his first bed will be from the farm. I may need to repaint it, but that shouldn't be too difficult. We'll get it in a month or so and just have it ready when we decide to move him to a real bed.
4. Carson really hasn't had any experience sleeping in a real bed. I can probably count on one hand the number of times he's slept with us.
5. He loves his crib and has never tried to get out. He piles all his stuffed animals in there with him and it's his little safe place. I don't think his body is actually on the mattress because he has so many animals/characters in there with him.
6. We "paid" for the toddler rail when we bought the 4-1 crib, so might as well use it.
7. Lastly, I just figured it might be an easier transition for him (and the rest of us) if he was still in his crib. It's a familiar place. He knows it's for sleeping and nothing major has changed other than he can get in himself, which I think he's wanted to do for a while.
He's had two nights in it so far. I do NOT want to jinx anything, so I won't be jumping up and down anytime soon or bragging about how well he's doing, but I'll just say that so far, he seems to really be enjoying it. We haven't had to go put him back in yet or anything. He's usually pretty good about going to bed, so it seems that so far, he doesn't really view this bed any differently, other than he has the freedom to put all his animals in and out. The first night (Friday), we had gone to Target after school and I let him pick out a new stuffed animal. He picked the Thomas and Percy mini Pillow Pals. Yes, we ended up with both, not one. He LOVES them, and they seem to "complete" his stuffed animal/character collection (at least for now!). He's got all his doggies (multiple), Snuggles (his bear), Mickey times 2, Goofy, Duck (i.e. Donald), his Jesus Loves Me bunny rabbit, Sock Monkey from "Dove", and now Thomas and Percy. He is VERY particular about which ones he wants with him. OH, and his blanket....he still HAS to have his green blanket!

Terrible pic, but you can see his excitement about his "big bed." He was so cute when I brought him in there the first time to show him his big boy bed. His eyes just lit up. He crawled in and said, "Mommy get in." So yes, I have managed (or 1/2 of me) to crawl in there with him every day for a little while. He loves to snuggle with me!
Not only do all the animals go in, but so does his chair (it came out before bedtime).
Busted!
Proud of himself
We've had quite a bit of entertainment watching him on the monitor. The first night he slept in there, about half of his animals were on the floor next to him when I left the room. In the morning, they were all in there. I guess he got out of bed in the middle of the night, put them in the bed with him, then went back to sleep. So, the next night, we watched him for a while, and sure enough, that's what he did. I've also been surprised that in the morning, he's waited for us to get out of bed. The first day, he jumped for a little while, but still didn't climb out. This morning, he just kept rolling around. I sure hope he keeps this up. I'm not ashamed to admit that he did have a little Benadryl both nights before bed... it was legit though... his nose has been running like crazy! This kid's got some allergy issues!
I had to do a little reconfiguring too because I noticed he was trying to lean over the toddler rail to reach stuff on top of a smaller dresser. He went for it and I heard him screaming. When I came in, it looked like he was holding on for dear life over the side of a cliff. The cliff being that dresser. He had the sock monkey in hand and was holding on to the top of the dresser with his palms, body over the side edge, and toes digging into the side of the dresser to try to stay on. Silly boy. He only had about 6 inches to "fall", but I think it was enough to scare him a little and enough more me to move some furniture around.
More to come.... We'll see how his first full week goes!

So What Wednesday!
So what if I am really buying the Capri Sun's for myself.
So what if I might really enjoy watching men's swimming, and not just for the race... have you seen those bods!
So what if I was secretly happy that the crib conversion kit was out of stock in the color I needed AND I couldn't find the instructions/extra hardware to just convert to a toddler bed... I'm not sure I'm ready for him to have his freedom!... but then I waste an insane amount of time searching for beds and "big boy" bedding online. Hello, Mrs. Indecisive!
So what if I found myself watching the Time Life infomercial for "The Teen Years"... a CD collection of 1950's and early 1960's music... and wishing I had lived during that time. It seemed so simple and innocent, yet the infomercial was cheesy as all get out. I seriously watched it for 30 minutes.
So what if I seriously wanted to slap (or at least give my two cents to) one of the ladies at the barber shop yesterday when Carson had the meltdown of all meltdowns. Two of the three ladies that cut hair were being very sympathetic and trying to help while the third just kept giving me this (what I interpreted as) highly judgemental look. It seemed so snarky... I get mad just thinking about it. (Granted... I'm probably totally over-reacting, but oh well... so what!!)
So what after the meltdown of all meltdowns I am, 1) Too embarrassed to go back (it was that bad, y'all... I seriously don't know what was wrong....Not like him AT ALL. He flat out lost it and could never calm back down. This hysteria went on for 30+ minutes.) and 2) just going to leave haircuts up to Daddy from now on. Easy solution. I'm sure he'll be an angel for Daddy.
So what if clothes stay in the dryer for an insane amount of time (this one's for you Courtney!).... pretty sure I get asked multiple times a week why where the clean underwear is. A wet sock and 20 more minutes gets the wrinkles out!

Sweetness
He's not smiling or anything (b/c I think he's in his Yo Gabba Gabba or Thomas trance), but for some reason, he just looks so darn sweet. Such a precious little boy...
Yep, I can see the TV..."Gabba"
"Play Tent"
One of Carson's favorite presents was his tent from Lindsay & Max. He loves to drag us in there (literally) and "play balls" or "play cars" or whatever. Andrew & I definitely wish we were a little shorter....or that it had a built-in fan! That thing gets hot! :-)
My brother and I used to love making cushion tents with blankets, playing in our fort, and building Christmas tree forts in the front yard (which I know my dad loved... haha). I don't know what it is about kids liking little, confined spaces, but they sure do!!!

So What Wednesday!
So what if every time I do the grocery shopping at HEB I come home with sushi, of which, I usually eat before 10:00am the next day.
So what if I changed Carson while he was standing up in a McDonald's bathroom. I purposely chose McD's because I THOUGHT they'd have a changing table. Nope. Won't be stopping at the McD's in Crockett, TX again until C is potty-trained (even though everyone was nice and it was new & clean).
So what if I have my iPad set up on my desk so I can stream the Olympics... I love the Olympics!
So what if I cry every time they show an emotional Olympic athlete or share an emotional story. How could the moment you realize you are the BEST in the WORLD not be emotional (i.e. Missy Franklin in swimming)... or if you have been training your entire life for this moment and it goes wrong (i.e. Jordyn Wieber not being able to compete in the gymnastics Individual All-Around). For some reason, I feel like I celebrate these victories and suffer defeat with these athletes.
So what if I think watching Women's Table Tennis is HILARIOUS, especially the instant replays. These girls are SERIOUS and really work up a sweat... Ding Ning (yes, that is her name) of China has a very interesting pre-serve ritual. And the Chinese fans... WOW... they are into it!
So what if I don't always give Andrew all of his Bass Pro/Cabelas/etc. catalogs. It's not like we really need any more stuff!
So what if on Carson's picture day, I tried to cover one of his big mosquito bites with my foundation, only to realize how incredibly pale my kiddo is (or that I am tanner than I thought!).
So what if I found it to be quite the accomplishment that I cooked a full meal for my family. Andrew does the cooking around here and challenged me to do it one night (to prove how much effort/thought goes into this job...which it absolutely does!!!...And, so that he could enjoy playtime with Carson.). I found a great low-carb meatloaf recipe (we both love meatloaf) and also made cauliflower potatoes (another low-carb side). I had dinner ready by 6:30 (actually earlier, but that's when we ate) and it actually tasted good. Go me! I told Andrew I wanted to do this at least once a week... I need to learn to cook some things!
So what if I'm still working on the thank-you notes from Carson's party two weeks ago. I'm usually really on top of thank-you notes (as in within a couple days MAX), but for some reason it's taking me a little longer to get them out this time. They will be done soon...thank you notes are still very important in my book!
So what if I bought the mini popcorn bags to avoid eating a whole big bag... only to end up eating TWO mini bags yesterday... .whoops. It was good, what can I say!?!?
