Make Ya Smile Monday!

A little Friday night backyard fun...

School Picture Day!

Last Thursday was School Picture Day! Doesn't my little man look handsome?!?!?

The report was that he did great and no retake was required. I can't wait to see the end result, since this was his 1st professional picture. Yes, I can't believe as obsessed as I am with pictures that I haven't had any professional ones done yet. Soon. Very soon. It's not like he isn't well documented. :-)

Friday Faves!

1. NOT CARING that I haven't done a Friday Faves post in a while. I used to stress out if I missed a "Make Ya Smile Monday", "Why? Wednesday", or a "Friday Faves" post... or, if I just hadn't posted in a while. You know what, doesn't matter. If I have time to blog, FANTASTIC. If I don't, the world will keep on going. (I'm trying to adopt this attitude about cleaning, etc.)

2. Impromptu "School Spirit Friday". We were out of town when they had this at MDO, so why not just do it today! Plus, I could seriously put Carson in that jersey EVERY day. SO CUTE!!!

3. Peace & Quiet... don't get me wrong, I miss my little nuggest a TON during the day, but I have to say it is SO nice to have a quiet house to myself. That pretty much hasn't been the case for a single day since Carson was born. I didn't realize how loud and distracting it really was to have him here while I was working, even with the nanny.

4. Good reports - Check out that nap time!!! Carson seems to finally be getting into the groove and has taken almost a 2-hour nap the last couple of days!!!

He's still crying when I drop him off, but is happy as can be when I pick him up.

5. Gettin' it. He's got the whole drill down...placing the balls on the top, hitting them with the hammer, watching them go through maze, repeat.

Carson LOVES this toy from Cousins Blake, Garrett, Alexander, and Charlotte. Watch out though, that hammer is dangerous!!! I'm just waiting to get wacked in the head if I'm a little too close.

6. Sister time tomorrow for our Mini Retreat!!!

They're All There!!!

Just a quick confirmation that ALL FOUR of Carson's molars have pushed through. I knew that at least two had, but was able to see in there today and yep, they're ALL THERE!!!

Well, That Was Fun - Part 2

If Carson's little episode wasn't fun enough, Friday I started feeling not so hot myself. Since it had been 24 hours since Carson had thrown up, didn't seem to have the diarrhea issues {which ended up NOT being the case}, and was just acting like he felt much better, I decided to go ahead and take him to MDO on Friday. I was really behind on work after having to take Thursday off, so I thought I'd give it a try. I pretty much felt like crap all day on Friday. I wasn't even sure I was going to make it to drop him off. I was loopy, my tummy was upset, and then late afternoon/early evening, I was throwing up too. Fun stuff. Late Friday night, Andrew started throwing up too. Within 36 hours, all three of us had thrown up. Good times.

The weekend was spent laying around, sleeping with trashcans and/or buckets by the bed or couch. Friday I started off in bed and Andrew on the couch, then when he started getting sick, we switched so he could be closer to the bathroom.

The only good thing about this family sick weekend was that we all felt our worst fairly spaced out. I was still okay when Carson was at his worst. Andrew was still okay when I was at my worst. Carson and I were both feeling better when Andrew was at his worst.

Since the weekend pretty much was miserable, we splurged and spent $40 for the Pay-Per-View Aggie game. We didn't spend any money all weekend, so it was WELL worth it to be able to watch the game. AND, they WON! Gig 'Em!!!

We're all back to 100% (minus a little head cold and lots of clear gunk coming out our noses). Glad that's over.

Well, That Was Fun...

Thursday was a Mommy & Me day with this little cutie. Let me just tell you how it all started...

Thursday morning I went in to get Carson out of bed to nearly be taken out by the smell of something that I knew was NOT poop. I don't ever use this acronym, but O.M.G. It was bad. Really, really bad. I was scared. Scared to take five steps forward to see what was waiting for me. Stitches the Bear and his look alike had already jumped ship and were laying on the floor.

I creeped up to have my sweet little nugget jumping up and down COVERED, and I mean COVERED, in his own throw up. Then it got worse. The crib, from one end to the other, was also COVERED...bumpers and all. There were CHUNKS of dinner {smoked sausage, green beans, broccoli, & cheese} all over the place. It also appeared that he had what only could have been MULTIPLE diarrhea explosions. The smell, it was RANCID. I've smelled some gross stuff before, but this nearly made me throw up myself. My heart broke for this sweet little boy who had Something About Mary hair, except his "product" of choice was puke.

First things first. This kid was stripped down and thrown in the tub as fast I could get him in there. He was standing naked in the bathroom as I was trying to get as much in the washing machine as possible. Then he peed on the floor. I guess I should have been relieved that it wasn't more "diarrif" or puke. Pee & tile floor = no big deal. He looked so pathetic in the tub. Think sad, wet kitty cat {not the skinny part, the "why are you doing this to me" part.}

Okay, so the kid is clean. It took forever to do all the laundry... 4 bumpers, sheet {washed twice b/c it was that bad}, mattress pad, two stuffed bears, blanket, PJ's, two towels, and a wash cloth.

Oh, and did I mention he threw up again at breakfast. This was my fault. Despite his clearly upset tummy, he still acted hungry. I thought oatmeal had to be a safe choice. It seemed like it was...until that last bite. This was a reluctant bite. I should have known better. As soon as he took it, I knew I had crossed the line. Back out it ALL came. Add another set of clothes {outfit #2 of the day}, the high chair covers, and a couple rags to the laundry list. I DID know better than to give him milk. We didn't have any Pedialyte in the house, so water and Powerade it was until I could run to the store.

I called the doctor's office and the nurse pretty much said this was going around since school started. Yep, two days at preschool, TWO DAYS, and he's already sick. I sure hope this won't become a common occurance. She gave me a Pedialyte and Florastor (OTC probiotic to regulate his digestic system) regimen to follow. She also said yogurt was good for his system. Good to know, he likes yogurt.

Outfit #3 (below) was retired for the day when the diaper didn't quite hold it all in.

{Yes, this was a little craft project from one of Andrew's old camo shirts & a ripped TAMU Duck Unlimited t-shirt.}

I'll note that this was the first time Carson has really thrown up. He had a minor little gag reflex the first time we gave him avocado, but that's it. This was also the first time he's had diaper leakage since he was a little bitty thing and we had used a different kind of diaper.

I did have TONS of work to do, but that's okay. It was worth it to hang out with my nugget. Even if "hanging out" pretty much just meant changing stinky, clear enzymey, diarrif diapers. To top it all off, let's just say I'm not quite feeling like myself either today. Thanks, Carson. Love you too! wink wink

Well, That Explains A Lot...

Well, what I suspected is in fact TRUE. I was thinking that Carson's first molars were well on their way, and sure enough, when I was desperately trying to make him laugh on the plane by tipping him slightly upside down in my arms, I saw it. His top right molar was just barely peeking through. Last week, C barely ate and he was crankier than normal this past weekend in Dallas. Now I can see why.

And...last night I noticed his bottom left molar (at least I think I did). When he was on the changing table and laughing, I'm pretty sure I saw a flash of white. I learned my lesson about sticking my hands in there to try to feel for them, so I'll try to confirm another way here soon.

THANK GOD for Baby Tylenol!!!
