Another catch-up post...
We spent the weekend before New Years at the farm. Carson was ready to be at "Wannie's Farm."
He was out most part of the way there!
Lucy was ready too...

My view from the tree stand... I needed to shoot a buck. It had been EIGHT years!
Got one!
Probably one of the coolest hunts I've ever had. There were 3 doe at the feeder and then I saw movement off to my right. One buck... no, two bucks... no three bucks... they just kept coming. I think there were 6 total, probably 3 of which were legal (13" spread). They were not coming in to hang out at the feeder. This bachelor herd was on the move. Everything happened so fast, I couldn't tell which was the biggest one. I had missed my chance at a buck twice already this year because I waited too late to try to shoot, so I didn't want to let the opportunity slip away again. I knew this buck was legal and I had a shot, so I took it. I was using Andrew's 7 mag, and this guy just dropped right there. It was a little frustrating knowing there might have been a bigger one in the group, but I was just happy to FINALLY shoot a buck again. That brings my total deer harvest to THREE this year.... Not too shabby. We'll eat all that meat too. We LOVE venison!
