So what if I scraped up some of the Goldfish Carson spilled a day or two ago in the back of my car and put them in his cup because I forgot a snack for Target. I ate one first. They were fine.
So what if I didn't quite wait the full 30 minutes after my teeth cleaning to eat... there was NO way that Chick Fil A was making it all the way home untouched.
So what if for once in my life I made a relatively big financial decision that some might have thought was crazy (i.e. Giving Andrew the okay to buy another boat before replacing my 11 year old Pathfinder with 150,000+ miles on it). His excitement has been totally worth it. You gotta live a little and enjoy things while you can!!! Plus, my car is running fine, paid off, and doesn't get driven much anyways.
So what if we got a sitter the first time we wanted to take the new boat out. We wanted to go FAST and Carson isn't always so sure about that. He was a little nervous in the old boat at 1/2 the speed of this one.
So what if I let my kid run around naked in the back yard and he pooped on the driveway. He did tell me about it though, "I poo-pooed"... after the fact.
On the flip-side, how about a little pat on the back for these things...
Not lying to my doctor when he asked me if I exercised. I told the truth, and he said I probably needed to since my resting heart rate is on the upper end of normal. Boo. Wake-up call. So, not really a pat on the back, but for the first time I didn't embellish my story and realized not working out on any regular basis was starting to affect my health.
NOT stressing about Carson's party. It's been nice to not put that kind of pressure on myself.

Heck Yeah!!! It's a RANGER!!!
For as long as I've known Andrew, it's been his dream to own a REAL bass boat.... one that makes that loud sound as it takes off and can go FAST.
In the world of bass boats, Ranger Boats is probably the leader and has been around a long time.
For a number of reasons, we didn't opt to buy a "real" fiberglass boat back in 2008 when we did buy our first (non-hunting) boat. At the time, Andrew was commuting from Baytown to Port Arthur everyday, and therefore, had purchased a 4-cylinder truck that could in NO WAY pull a big bass boat.
Our first boat was a 2007 G3 Eagle Coastal series, or a "bass & bay" boat. It was an aluminum bass boat that was also made for saltwater. That style of boat is PERFECT for where we live since we have some of the best bass fishing (@ Toledo Bend & Sam Rayburn) and best saltwater/bay fishing all just RIGHT HERE. FYI - You really shouldn't put a regular bass boat in salt water. For some reason, there aren't too many bass & bay boats out there. In the REAL (i.e. fiberglass) bass boat world, there aren't many. There especially aren't many in this area. New ones are crazy expensive (all new boats are really), and used ones just don't come up for sale very often. There always seemed to be some in Florida, but we really didn't want to drive all the way to Florida and then find out the hard way that the boat wasn't what we were expecting. And then if it was, talk about bad gas mileage pulling a boat all the way back.
Anyways, Andrew religiously checked Craigslists all over the country, southeasttexas.com, a number of fishing forums, etc. to see if his dream boat, a RANGER INTRACOASTAL, ever came available.
Lo and behold, one came up for sale in Seguin, TEXAS... yes, TEXAS, not Florida.
We jumped on it and everything fell into place, and here she is!!!!...
And she looks WAY better in person!
One proud owner!
As Andrew predicted, the first thing I said was, "It has SPARKLES!" Most bass boats have a sparkly trim, which I LOVE! So pretty!
It probably killed Andrew to have that boat at our house all day Saturday and not be able to take it out, but the weather was crummy and our babysitter wasn't available. So, Sunday after church, we took her out on her first outing....
It went FAST, way faster than I was used to!
I have to say, I was a little hesitant at first about giving the thumbs up to go ahead and buy it, but I already LOVE it and know we will make so many fun memories out on this boat. Carson is already very interested in fishing... I can't wait!!!
Lovin' it! If anyone wants to come visit and go fishing, just let us know when!
(Or, if you want to buy our old boat. Seriously.)

More Carson-isms
Our little man is just talking away these days, but some of the things that he says/does that crack me up are:
"Come on, _______." He says Mommy, Daddy, Pops, Katy (his babysitter), or pretty much anyone he wants to do something. I have a feeling he picked this up from me. I know I am always trying to rush him out of the house and he gets distracted by something.
"Okay." It's the way he says it that makes me laugh. Very deliberate. Like he's really agreeing with whatever you ask or say to him.
"Gig 'Em Aggies." How could I not love this?!?
"My turn, my turn!" It usually is.
"Rock, Roll" (his version of Rock 'n Roll... we listen to a lot of classic rock)
A couple of the most recent Thomas episodes have had a song that was sort of "rap"-esque. He starts dancing by "raising the roof", if you will. Hilarious. Definite "white kid" dancing.
He treats his Mickey Mouse stuffed animal like a little person. He hugs, kisses, puts to sleep, tries to feed and give drinks, tells him to "eat", puts books in his lap and tells him to "read", tells him to sit next to him, etc. I guess it's like a little girl and her doll. He's also done this with Elmo and his old Muno doll from Yo Gabba Gabba... he just calls him "Gabba" though.
"I poo-poo." and "I tee tee." We're not starting potty training yet, but I'm thrilled that he's aware of these functions now. Yesterday it would have been nice if he told me BEFORE he poo poo-ed on the driveway (he had a little skinny dipping in his baby pool/running around the backyard naked session yesterday).
"Bye, Bye Jesus." He said this unprompted when we left chruch yesterday. The whole congregation probably heard him say "AMEN" too after the closing prayer. He's in the nursery during most of Mass, but we usually get him after Communion. I served Communion yesterday and when he saw me "on stage" he started yelling out "Mommy" in the happiest little voice. Thank goodness it was over, and I was just cleaning up... he doesn't understand reverence yet!
He always thinks Daddy is fishing. When I pick him up from school and we're headed home, he always says, "Daddy fishing." He loves Daddy's new "big boat."
Daddy found all his old 'model' type ships (think little Nina, Pinta, & Santa Maria types)... Carson loves to tell me, "I play boats." He always tells me, "Mommy, come on" when he wants me to sit on the floor and play with him.
He's OBSESSED with the March 2012 Texas Monthly magazine with a bunch of Southwest airplanes on it. Glad I didn't chunk that one when I threw out a bunch of other magazines.
"Argh...Matey" - We taught him this to say when he wears his pirate shirt from South Padre. There is usually a pause between the Argh and the Matey, which makes it funnier.
Counting in general... he says numbers with the cutest voice. He can count to 5 on his own and 10 with a little help. He sometimes skips around, but it's cute. He counts EVERYTHING.
Love this little booger and can't believe he'll be TWO in less than two weeks!!!!

Why A Vacation is Not a Vacation...
When an almost 2-year old is involved, a vacation is not really a vacation. I'm more tired now than I was before. It's all worth it though.... he had a blast!
A couple of my quick videos... my dad has the rest.
Yes, it was EXTREMELY windy the whole time!
The whole way home from the restaurant he kept counting "1, 2" and wanted to be thrown up in the air. I quit and enlisted my dad instead. Love, love, LOVE that sweet little voice!
The kid went a 100mph the whole time. He hardly napped no matter how worn out he should have been from swimming and playing at the beach. He wouldn't sleep in the Pack 'N Play, so Mommy and (mostly) Daddy had to sleep with him each night in a twin bed. He's never slept with us, so it definitely was a challenge, but was kind of nice at the same time. All that snuggling made him seem little again. Looks like we need to make the shift to a big boy bed here pretty soon. It sure would make traveling easier!
Captain Carson!
We took a little family vacation with my parents and brother down to South Padre (which will get it's own post after I get the pics from my dad), but one of the highlights for Carson was "driving airplane." Our flight was nowhere near full and we had a super friendly flight attendant who (on his own) asked the Captain if Carson could come in the cockpit once we landed.
Think he was excited???? (He was "cheese-ing" for me big time!)
So many buttons!!!
Carson's flown quite a few times already, but this flight and the one to Dallas the previous weekend were no doubt memorable. He was SO excited about all the airplanes (and we heard about it non-stop!).
