Day 3 in the Books!

Carson rocked it today!  There were no tears when I dropped him off and he went straight to his teacher in the pool and was ready to go.

He was so excited to go swimming!  Can you tell???

I asked him if he wanted to go swimming and the answer was "YEAH!!"

This was the least enthusiastic version I got... he was a little distracted by his sunglasses.  For the record, we weren't moving during the filming.  I know better.

Little swimming stud...

She did say he cried a little when he had to float on his back.  He's not a big fan of that apparently.  When I got there, he has his head in the water and was just kicking away.  Go Carson!

Oh, for the record, the Pampers Swim Diapers do hold poop.  I did my best to feed him 2 hours before his class, but you just can't control an almost 2-year old's poop schedule.  It was a BAD one.  The smell was horrible.  Wet, not-very-solid poop is not easy to change.  I wasn't about to put him the carseat with that mess, so I put the towel on the ground next to my car and did my best.  Wipes on wet skin just don't work very good.  We managed to get 'clean enough' for the ride home.  Thankfully I had a spare pair of shorts and towel to put in the seat.  I needed it just in case 'clean enough' wasn't quite good enough.

Day 2 in the Books!

Day 2 of swimming lessons started a lot worse than Day 1 but ended a lot better.  He was perfectly fine in the car when I told him we were going swimming.  When we pulled up, he started fussing and telling me "no, no, no" like he actually recognized the house after one day. I got him out fairly easily and he was fine until it was his turn, and I had to leave.  He was screaming when I left.  Sorry, Corinne.

When I picked him up, I saw him diving under the water. WOW! Go, Carson! He was so happy and having fun with all the diving toys. He wasn't ready to leave. His teacher said he stopped crying about 1/2 way through and that he did good. I'm hoping tomorrow is 100% tear-free!

Sweet little water baby

"I Swimming"

Today was Day 1 of swimming lessons.  Carson has a 30-minute, private lesson for five days in a row.  The teacher is supposed to be AMAZING....the swimming whisperer, if you will.  Parents aren't allowed to watch until the last day.  I've heard that you are just in awe on the final day to see how much they can do already.  I can't wait!

Ready to go... Thomas on shirt and in hand...

All Done!  He kept telling me "I swimming!!!"

There were no tears when I left, but when I came back, I could hear him crying.  I was warned that Day 1 and sometimes 2 are pretty rough for the little ones that have never had lessons before.  So, I was totally expecting it.  He was crying, but wasn't mad crying.  When he finally saw me, he was still crying some but was so excited at the same time and kept telling me, "I swimming!!"  He was proud of himself.  I think going underwater was just something new and may have been a little scary.  He certainly didn't seem traumatized or anything.  The whole way home he kept saying, "I swimming!!!"  I hope he's excited when we show up again tomorrow.

Stay tuned for Day 2 update......

Angel in the Sky

This was a whirlwind of a weekend....

Friday I headed to Crystal Beach for Jamie's Bachelorette Party and then left early afternoon to drive through Baytown, get Carson, head to Hobby, fly to Dallas, celebrate my grandparents 65th (WOW!) wedding anniversary, then turn around and fly home Sunday night.  Whew...

Andrew needed to get back home by 4:30, so I got to Baytown around 3:00, which put us at Hobby at 4:00pm.  Our flight wasn't until 7:00pm.  FYI - I wasn't originally going to bring Carson, but decided at the last minute to add him since pretty much my entire family was going to be in Dallas.  Originally, the logistics were just to crazy for Andrew and Carson to come, but we made it work for at least Carson to be there (since he is still FREE to fly).  Andrew, you were missed....

Anyways, we got to the airport at 4:00 thinking we could get on an earlier flight. We could... for $120 dollars. No thank you. So, having to entertain a toddler at the airport for 3 hours immediately sounded like the biggest nightmare every, but, you know what... Carson was AWESOME!!!

Mommy bought an inexpensive Graco stroller at the last minute at Target with a BIG basket and tray table.  BOB Stroller, why must your basket be tiny and worthless???  And, why do I have to spend $60 dollars to get a tray??  This whole Graco stroller was $60 and was AWESOME for travelling.

Crusing through the airport....

Checking out the "AH-PANE"... heard that probably a million times!

We waved hi and bye to the "AH-PANES" A.LOT.

We shared some sweet potato fries...

Play a lot of iPad...

Fascinated....

Waving to the airplanes and telling one to "wait"... he didn't want it to leave.

There was no sleeping on the plane, but he did happily sit in my lap and read lots of books and play on the iPad when it was allowed.  He liked looking out the window on the way there.  We also had fun riding on the parking "busssss"... yes, we sang Wheels on the Bus, motions and all, on a full bus.  He was the entertainment.

We didn't get to my parents' house until after 9:00pm and Carson got his second wind after "Pops" played the "coo coo"clock.  Someone did NOT want to go to sleep and probably didn't fall asleep until after 10:00.... and then woke up at 6:00am ready to go.

Carson and Uncle Dave played hard before church and Carson was just about out as we got to church, but he made it through and had fun in the nursery.  He was out after about 2 minutes on the way home...

Nap time wasn't long enough on Sunday, and so he was not the most pleasant person at the party... oh well, I know they were all still glad to see him.  He was OUT as soon as we got back in my car in Houston at about 6:45....

Slept the whole way home until about 8:00, then pretty much immediately went back to sleep in his crib.

He didn't wake up until 8:00 this morning... and probably would have stayed in there longer, but we had our first SWIMMING LESSONS!!!  Think he was tired???

I am SO, SO thankful that this trip went smoothly.  I was a little (okay, a lot) nervous about flying with a toddler.  We'll be doing it again soon, so I feel MUCH better about the whole thing!

Thank you, Carson!!!  Not only were you so good, you were so good that we got compliments on how good you were (and cute!).  Hope this wasn't a fluke and that you decide to be good next time too!

Backyard Silliness!

Isn't he just the cutest?!?!  Love this kid!!!

His Daddy has created a monster.  He does not want to 'regular' swing at home (he will other places), but instead likes to be twisted up and let go.... He'll be one that loves the Tea Cups at Disney World...

Yes, we know our siding needs to be fixed... please don't make it worse.

He loves playing on his zebra from Vivi....

He can go FAST!

Love that cheesy SMILE!!

WHEEEE!!!!

Crashing the zebra into the trash can = FUN!

Until it 'breaks'.... Mr. Fix It at work...

Silly Boy!

Love these nights with our little family!

Dancin' in the Rain!

Since it's rained just about every day for the last week or so, our evening, outside playtime has been significantly impacted.  HOWEVER, I learned that our little one LOVES to go on the front porch (which is a little bit covered) and watch the "WAIN."  For some reason, the direction of the rain has also been in our favor in that our house has blocked some of the down pour.  Carson can go out from underneath the porch without getting soaked.  We drag our foldout chairs and plastic Thomas chair out there and just hang out.

He's picked all the weeds out from between the cracks in the concrete...

And throws the weeds up in the air...

We love our vintage "I'm a Little Aggie" shirt that was Khaki's!

We found a lizard in the plant...Can you see it??

Against Mommy's orders, we still like to pick all her flowers...

And DEMAND I take them...

I really need to bust out the good camera, this camera phone is TERRIBLE!
