Anyways, Carson developed his horrible, croupy cough the last couple weeks, so we finally took him to the pediatrician since it didn't seem to be improving. We had a major meltdown in the waiting room. He's definitely at that toddler stage where he's going to through a tantrum when you either won't let him do what he wants, or when you make him stop doing something he's enjoying. That was the case here. The BIG Legos were just so much fun that he didn't want to stop playing when they called his name. This was definitely one of his best tantrums yet. It continued all the way through the door, to the back nurses station, and then to the room. He would not allow them to weigh him, and only finally calmed down when I bribed him with the iPad (thank you, Jesus, for the iPad!). The next tantrum was when the doc wanted to look at his throat. That was fun. I pretty much had to lay on top of him to hold him down. Anyways....
The doc said he had bronchitis, but was also wheezing. The plan of action was this:
Breathing treatments every 4 hours for a couple days and then as needed thereafter.
Another round of Prednisolne (steroids)
Antibiotics for the bronchitis
A different allergy med, Singular (since Zyrtec didn't seem to do much)
He was a little charmer at the pharmacy and flirting with all the ladies, but was OUT on the way home.
Such a pro....
Snuggle time afterwards...
The first breathing treatment was a NIGHTMARE. He fought it so hard and it was so sad to watch. What's so funny now is that he acts like he actually likes it. He doesn't fight it at all now and it really seems to calm him down. Thank you, Jesus! He gets in his Thomas or Mickey Mouse watching zone, and all is good!

Poor baby and Poor momma and dad!
ReplyDeleteHoping and praying he feels much better soon!
