Steak and Eggs... Yes, Please!!!

At our check-up yesterday, I asked the doc about what foods Carson should or shouldn't be eating at this point. For the most part, he's able to have just about everything we eat with a few exceptions. I had heard something about not eating eggs until 12 months, but he said they were fine. As far as meats go, they're a go, but I just need to be sure they are very soft and in very small pieces.

I've been a little concerned that Carson wasn't getting enough protein. He doesn't really like the baby food meat (who would!?!), and he's not loving the chicken/veggie combos I've made either. Even I thought they were funky. Have you smelled boiled chicken? Gross.

Anyways, in my limited repertoire of recipes, I AM able to cook scrambled eggs! So, we gave that a shot last night. Oh. My. Gosh. The child was shoveling him in his face! He LOVED it! To make the meal even better, mommy found a deer steak in the fridge from the other night. So, I cut it up, heated it up in water in the microwave so it didn't dry out, then pounded the heck out of it with the tenderizer mallet, then cut it into little pieces. Again, Carson LOVED it!!!

Who wouldn't love steak and eggs??? He's ours, for sure!

He's certainly getting to the point where he doesn't want me to feed him all the time. He wants to do it himself. There are nights where he will NOT let me feed him, but if you put puff or little pieces or bread dipped in the baby food veggies on his tray, he scarfs it down. He's gotten really good at chewing (no, near choking incidents in quite a while), so looks like we'll be making the transition to real food going forward.

Happy Tuesday!

  1. Have you tried beans yet? They are a good source of protein and Amelia LOVES them! She could eat half a can of beans in one sitting! Oh, and edamame (soy beans). Those are another fav. of Amelia's...but steak and eggs...YUM!!!
